Once you start choosing clothes to suit your body type, choosing what to buy becomes a lot simpler.
There have been many discussions into the different body types, from the hourglass to the pear bodyshape.
There are many different shapes, including; the pear shape, hourglass, apple, rectangle, inverted triangle and the lean column. What is your body shape? look below.
Dressing for your body shape can be difficult, but I am here to help, here are some examples of celebrities with each of these body types and an example of what they wear to flatter their bodyshape.
The Hourglass
With an hourglass figure, go for outfits which nip in your waist and exaggerate your curves, bodycon dresses are perfect for doing this, often dresses at the knee or just below flatter your figure. A-line and pencil skirts are universally flattering. They work well for hourglass figures because they hug your curves and keep things streamlined.
The Pear
Long dresses or strapless bodycon dresses, help flatter your figure. Bring in your waist with a belt and wear skirts which outline your assets. Avoid skater skirts, go for more figure hugging outfits, to show off what you got!
The Inverted Triangle
Drape dresses look great, also you can rock strapless dresses, shorter dresses look great and can be accessorised with heals. Try the skater dress or the flare dress they suit the inverted triangle figure so much! Peplum tops look amazing and exaggerate your hips. Keep details, fuss, anything that creates volume to your lower half and keep your top half clean and uncluttered. Straight clothing lines are a natural extension to your body line. Create the illusion of a waist with waist details such as a wider belt
The Apple
Wear shirts or dresses that flow from under your bust, expanding at the waist. Remember that drawing attention to your bust is different from looking top-heavy. You don't need to wear elaborate necklaces or tops with ornate patterns near the neck. You already have a great bust.
The Rectangle
A-line skirts work really well for this shape. You can also go the other way and wear a tight skirt or pants to highlight the curves that you do not have. You can wear almost any shape trousers but slightly flared trousers will look great on you as it will add more shape to your body. Low to mid waited pants are usually best. A knee length pencil skirt that tapers in at the side will also add some curves and look good. If you like the waistless look you can opt for straight skirts and shirt dresses. For shoes, opt for curvier and rounded options like ballerinas and pumps.
